Furness Waste Consortium Schools Competition
Wednesday June 30th South Lakes Wild Animal Park hosted a presentation day for all those primary school children of Furness who entered the Furness Waste Consortium poster competition.

Every year FWC invite local schools to enter a poster competition – children have to draw/paint a poster the theme of which centres around the theme of the day for 2010 that is “Biodiversity – Many species One planet One future”.
Entries have been judged by a panel and all schools submitting an entry are invited to attend the park, free of charge, on the 30th June to find who the winners are.
The prize giving will take place at 12.00pm
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
• World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972.
• It is hosted every year by a different city and commemorated with an international exposition through the week of June 5. Nations (UN)
• The day aims to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention
• Promotes ways to improve the earth's environment, such as conserving forests.
