Save the Cotton Topped Tamarin
- Help the Rainforest
In October 2010 South Lakes Wild Animal Park was pleased to be joined by Rosamira Guillen Director and Manager of Project Tamarin. Project Tamarin is a conservation project supported by the Park through our conservation charity the Wildlife Protection Foundation since 2004. The project protects the remaining rainforest habitat and Cotton Topped Tamarins left on the planet.
Through our conservation charity, The Wildlife Protection Foundation, we have proudly supported Project Tamarin (Titi) since 2004.
Rosamira has a very important message for us all:

Cotton topped tamarins are CRITICALLY ENDANGERED just one step away from EXTINCTION
Their Rainforest homes are disappearing fast
If we don't act now they will be gone from our planet forever!
Tuesday marked the launch of a series of events all aimed at “Saving the Cotton tops Rainforest” There are many ways companies, schools, groups or individuals can get involved from sponsoring enclosures to letting us support you with any of your fundraising ideas or educational materials to bring a class topic to life.
Our aim is to purchase an area of Santa Catalina Rainforest in Colombia. This is where Cotton Topped Tamarins, amongst a number of other endangered species, will once again have the opportunity to live in their natural habitat without threat of deforestation and other aspects which are rapidly affecting the rainforest.
What follows is a series of fantastic fun, organised events the proceeds of which are to go to the protection of this critically endangered species. Please join us and get involved.
The beautiful little monkeys in this photo are Cotton-top tamarins. They're criticially endangered because the forests they call home are rapidly dissapearing.
Myself and other staff members from South Lakes Wild Animal Park plan to have 5444 miles* ran as a collective effort to raise money to help buy a forest called Santa Catalina as a protected home for Cotton-top tamarins in Colombia. Colombia is the only place on earth where Cotton-tops live in the wild.
You can help by running one of the miles for us in one of our sponsored fun runs/walks or you might consider helping to organise a sponsored 'Run a mile for Tamarins' run/walk in your local area.
Please message me for more details (on facebook or email me at:
kiboko_@hotmail.co.uk ). I'd really appreciate it if you can help me, and more importantly the monkeys, out!
thank you!

Each product we have on this page has been created and designed by the people from our project out in Colombia, providing much needed work to the villages surrounding the tamarin forests and providing essential funds to provide an improved and sustainable standard of living which encourages communities to get behind the project by thinking Tamarins= a better way of life - and and all the money from the individual products will go towards our project.
